More Info:
Came across this beast of a supercourse on craigslist one day, built up with all kinds of random components on it- mismatched wheels, cheap crank, bmx bars, ugly rack, exercise meters, a puffy seat cover... :-/ needless to say I saw the potential and quickly went to scoop it up for $100. The frame was in good shape, paint had some scars, and chrome had some surface rust, but all in all was a-ok. I quickly stripped it down, cleaned it up, got rid of everything on the frame but the GB stem, Weinmann brakes and Dia Compe levers. Took apart the brakes, cleaned and polished them, polished the stem, and then went to work buying parts and putting it together. The most unique (and accidental) find was the GB bar binder bolt, which I believe only came on the top raleigh track bikes or professional models of the era. This really tied together the red accent with the levers, calipers and seat tube bolt. All said and done, it may be a hair too big for me, it's not a perfect show bike, but I love how it looks and it rides even better- likely the best of all my bikes.
