I am unfortunately unfamiliar with these bikes; but fortunately, I have recently acquired a rather dirty frame with missing components, etc. Are all the "Edge" forks carbon? My fork doesn't sound metallic when lightly tapped. I think my frame is a little earlier model than yours, that is if mine is an "Edge" in the first place. The top tube extension at the saddle is flat as opposed to rounded. It's a white frame with a yellow "aero blade" fork. It has a odd serial number compared to yours starting "SAT" then 4 numbers. I don't know if that meant anything since it's got a "Saturn" logo decal on it. Has 853 tubing, but it doesn't hold a magnet (is Reynolds 853 non-magnetic steel like some stainless steel?) to the frame or fork. Full D-A group (7400 series I believe), but no wheelset. It has a "Mavic" logo decal so I'm assuming that the rims were Mavic and possibly the hubs also."Continental" logo decal so Conti rubber originally. I don't know if this was some special giveaway offer related to Saturn car purchases. There's a decal with the name "Brian Walton" on the top tube; assuming it to be a previous owner. I'm just getting ready to clean and build up in the next week. I can't wait to try out this unique style frame. I've never ridden on a 853 frame either; should be interesting. I'll see if I have a picture to post. Do you know when the "Edge" frame was first produced? I'd like to determine the year but I've yet to see the same bike posted with any identifying info.

Your frame is a Saturn Team frame (1993-2000), Mavic was also a sponsor, thus the decal. The name is the rider's name, google him and "team saturn", you'll get hits. Fork, AFAIK, they came with carbon forks, its been a while since I really got into the weeds on these, there were steel for too IIRC, but not 100%. Flat top tube suggests custom. There is a wealth of info about these bikes, but you need to sift through the old threads of various bike forums, googling around will get you there. I've also heard of ppl getting in touch with the former riders. Also, there is a GT Bikes FB Page with some really knowledgeable ppl as well, check that out. It sounds like you have found a really special piece of craftsmanship, IDK much about the Team frames unfortunately, but I hope you are able to build it up to its former glory. I still have plans to complete my frame, but I live overseas and need to bring it and parts over. Please post pics when you get a chance!

You guys are keeping me on my toes here. I'm planning to go modern with this, Ultegra 6800, Wound Up (no logo/black crown), and undecided on wheelset, but thinking DA C50 or C35 (decals removed). Curious to get different opinions on what direction you guys would go with it.

Wound Up will give it that sorta retro-modern look. You could also amplify that theme (and save a little dough) by pairing the 6800 drivetrain with a more classic looking crankset.

Easton EC90 fork. SRAM Rival/Force. Mavic Exalith wheels. Zipp Service Course cockpit. Done.

Mavic and Zipp stuff looks interesting, I'll def consider those. Already got SRAM Force on another bike. Appreciate your input!

love the wound up idea. I'd say highlight the brazed theme with some shapely forged metal components. I'd rather go with campagnolo potenza/chorus shifters or sram rival/force 22 than 6800. However some quality wheels should be build or sought to perfect it! Campagnolo Record or white industry t11 hubs with some mid section rims like the velocity fusion will complete the modern classic looks and ride quality to boot.

the pearl mandates this be built into as classy of a ride as that 853 will feel. triple triangle classic w/ an integrated seat post binder & proudly displayed Reynolds sticker all wrap up into epic potential; great luck in it's build, please take your time sourcing just as amazing components for this
