Sarto have been hand-making frames in Italy for about 50 years. Initially steel, now carbon. Up until a few years ago, all of their output was under contract for other Italian bike companies - recently they began selling bikes under their own Sarto brand. The story I received directly from Sarto is this - however, details of the frame do make me wonder as to its truth... "This frame was made about 30 years ago, under contract for a Spanish racing team, but the client folded before shipping and the frames sat only primed in their factory until this year. They were found and painted up as a modern Sarto."

Nice ride. I just build up a Sarto Rovigo myself and I found that story interesting - that they were originally made for a Spanish team. Do you have any more details or a reference?

i like that you didnt get a carbon fork and kept it original, carbon forks are nice and all but really only matter for weight weenies. steel is real! hope you have many good rides to come on this beauty

Thanks again! I have nearly 1000km on it already - it took me through the Rapha Festive 500 (completed in about 5 days). It took some abuse! I'll upload a pic of it after a particularly filthy ride...
