Trek Distrcit

My 1st Gen Trek District - usually run as a fixed gear, but sometimes switched back to a SS by changing to a different wheel (hence the rear brake in some of the photos). I have a thing for belt drives. It's a quiet, smooth, killer ride that's tough as nails and gets me places. Fenders and the chainguard put it in Wintermode.

How did you switch it to a fixed gear? Is there a kit you used? I have the green 1st district.

Not a kit, just swapping out the drivetrain from CDC to CDX and lacing a new rear wheel.

I have a whole technical write up of what I did here: http://velopsy.blogspot.com/2013/06/i-f...

If you have any questions that aren't answered there though, I'd be happy to help out!

Hey I read your blog and I feel like such a bike newb! If I lived by you I'd just stop by with a 12er and figure it all out, but the flatlands of Illinois are my home.

I'm sitting on a stock setup right now. I saw you're running a 21t cog and the wheel you mentioned. What else would I need as far as parts?

Illinois to California would be a hell of a ride :]

Aside from the wheel and cog, you would only need a new belt ring and a new belt for the CDX system (unless you wanted a different crank too)! You can used the cog on any wheel with a fixed hub, just be sure you get/make something with the right spacing.
