How Bike History Works

Bike history allows people to see not only photos and info about a bike, but also the history/progression of the bike over time.

The idea is that as one builds/tweaks their bike over time (trying new parts, painting frames, changing things for races, etc.), they can keep track of the history of the bike and share it with the world.

The Concept of "Stages"
A bike's specs, photos, and description at a period in time is considered a stage. When you add history to a bike, you do it by adding stages. Bikes with multiple stages have a browsable history on Pedal Room.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I add history to a bike?

From your control panel, simply click on the "Add History" link next to your bike. You can also find this link on the bike's page directly.

What is a stage?

A stage is your bike at a certain point in time. A stage has a title, bike specs/modifications at that point in time, a stage description (for example, you how liked riding the bike at that stage vs others), and photos.

How do I add photos to stages?

If your photo isn't uploaded yet, add it from the "Manage Photos" page for your bike. Then go to the "Manage History" page for your bike (from your control panel or directly from the bike's page) and drag photos from the right side box to stages on the left.

How do I order my stages?

First go to the "Manage History" page for your bike (from your control panel or directly from the bike's page). Once you're there, drag the stages in order from oldest at the top to newest at the bottom. Finally, click the "Save" button and you're done!

If I add history to my bike, can I later and return to my old bike profile?

Of course. Simply remove all but one stage on the "manage history" page for your bike. Your last remaining stage's specs will become your bike profile.
