Bought this bike because my wife has a 1983 Trek 400 already and I wanted to have a "matching" set of vintage Treks. The last photo shows the bike in its near original (and excellent) condition. I purchased it from the original owner who also gave me the original 1983 Trek catalog, Owner's Manual and sales receipt! It's hard to believe this bike is 42 years old!

2x6 speed; Swapped out the 52/42 setup for lower gearing and casual riding.

Shimano Deore DX thumbies; Shimano Deore XT rear derailleur and Suntour BL front derailleur.

This is the 1st phase of my build. I plan to find a decent late 80s or early 90s Shimano wheelset so I won't be stuck with the Maillard freewheel. I'm also adding some Oury grips and some 700x28c Continental Road Tour tires in a couple weeks. - Edited May, 11th, 2025 -
