1986 Raleigh 440 Technium

I was given this bike early in July 2013 as I showed an interest in restoring an old bike and a friend just happen to have this one.

Yeah I got rid of those reflectors, they wouldn't even work with the new tires I installed anyway. I replaced the foam with bar tape, white probably wasn't the best choice but it's cheap. I replaced the old shifter cables and housing and I'll just deal with the old levers for now. I would like to get new brakes someday.

Oh yeah. Piss the reflectors off. That's a no brainer. Your cable routing is odd but that will change when you change the shifters and levers.

Restoring it to its former glory doesn't mean changing all the components. Difinetly get some 'clamp on' down tube friction shifters. Aero brake levers. Shimano and Dia-compe make them (brake only, not a shifter, lever combo). Get some real bar tape, not that shitty foam stuff. Keep the derailleurs and cranks, they make the bike. Some clips and straps for the pedals. I think this bike is around the same time clipless came out.
