SOLD 1986 Schwinn Madison

UPDATE: Sold this to a friend in Atlanta. Met a guy through the local bike community in Atlanta who had a 1986 Madison broken from a car hitting him about 3 years ago. He has been looking for one ever since then. Needless to say, this bike went to a GREAT new home! A co-worker was looking to clear out his N+1 stash and let me have this 1986 Schwinn Madison for a steal. It has lived pretty much its entire life in the Milwaukee area and was raced heavily in Kenosha at the Washington Park velodrome. I believe it was even one of the tracks loaner bikes at one point. I'm planning on putting a little love into it and cleaning up the frame and replacing a few items here and there. It's a blast to ride.

Sugino NJS 75 crankset

UPDATE: February 2018. I moved to Atlanta and haven't been riding this as much as I had hoped. I ended up meeting a local track guy who recently lost his 1986 Madison after getting hit by a car. He was eager to buy it and so I sold it! I think she went to a good home though.

Please don't refinish it! It's a vintage bike and perfect the way it is.

Haven't been there but I'll have to check it out! I'll probably bring this one by so they can take a look at it. I'm sure seeing a bike they sold over 30 years ago would be pretty cool to them.

Not sure what else my co-worker is looking to sell but I'll ask. What size do you need?

Looks great. I got mine powder coated at heritage bicycles in Chicago, although I wouldn't recommend it because the powder coat, although it has held up well, has some very fine pin holes in it. It was very inexpensive though and they were easy to work with. I imagine you can find something in Milwaukee equal or better than coming To Chicago.

Crap, I accidentally removed your comment above about not refinishing it. My apologies!

I'm gonna keep the paint/frame condition as is. The steel is in good shape with no dings. I actually spent some time with some microfiber rags and some chemicals I have for no-rinse car wash and the frame is cleaning up very nicely. Can't complain with this bike, especially for the price ;)

Picked it up from a co-worker who lives in Burlington. His wife used it as a track bike mostly in Kenosha. Judging by the original sales sticker from Allis bikes, it has spent its entire life in the area.

Cool. Allis bike shop rocks by the way. I live in West Allis, so I'm not partial. LOL. What else did they have. Looking for a 26er mountain bike.
