Yup. I needed to do that so I could deal with the asymmetric bottom bracket. (At the time of purchase, the Wheels Mfg. BB30A adapters didn't work with the exact CAAD12 specs. They've made a CAAD12 specific version since.)

Any reason why the steerer tube wasn't cut to height and spacers are used above the stem?

Not really. I feel it's marginally safer to have the carbon steerer go completely through the stem clamp.
... but my warranty is almost gone so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Not true unless you have a long ass expander. Actually, it's quite the opposite.

hey man, i'm trying to slam my stem on my caad12. where did you get your top headset bearing cover ? or what is it?

There's a ~1-2mm gap between the cover and the lip of the headtube, though. I guess the CAAD12 has slightly shaved off some of the head tube compared to the CAAD10s and Supersixes.

The ones that came with the bearing cover? Nope; they would've made the issue worse.

I just looked up those chainrings, finally ellipticals that are affordable, how are you liking them? More research needed but I may have to try them out, I've been wanting to change my rings for a while

They're alright for the price I paid for them. They can flex to the press of my thumb. I don't think they make a huge difference in the way I climb or sprint. Great inexpensive way to try out oval rings, though!
