My beloved mysterious beast. Got it via a series of middlemen from Saint-Petersburg who originally imported it from a czech collector (you can find previous owner & couple more photos on here). As the rumor goes, frameset was built around 1982~84 at Favorit (Rokycany). It should have been a training bicycle for the athletes of Czech SSR for 1984 Olympic games (Los-Angeles), but because of the US sanctions & boycott of '80 Olympics in Moscow, as a sign of solidarity, czech team decided to abandon the '84 tournament. As a result, need for a bicycle disappeared and there began journey of the Favorit: around Rokycany, to Prague and to S-P where i bought it. Now it lives a happy fixie life in Moscow :) The frame is mysterious because of the lack of information. I couldn't narrow down the year of production closer than early-mid 80's, as no serial numbers or producer initials are visible. Also I don't know what steel is it made of- there is equal chance for water pipes from the Rokycany factory or 753 Reynolds, as the top of the line Favorites (Koza) were made out of. One way or another, I am very happy with my purchase. Even after nearly a year of exhausting build up from bare bones and a battle with odd standards (26,2 seatpost, conical from the inside steerer tube with prehistorical (German?) thread on it..). It is such a cool ride with unique history and aesthetic
