This thing weighs a ton, so any way in which I can make it easier to drag up muddy hills is appreciated.

What's the weight in on the lightened phase?

It's by no means light still. It started off as about 12.5kg & was 11.3kg when I measured it last night. The dynamo hub/light & the wheels in general are pretty heavy, considering getting another lighter set for non-touring/commuting duties.
