why are you opposed to the notion of a beater bike?

andper says:

I fucking hate that phrase. All my bikes are "beater" bikes because I beat the shit out of them. Unless you're a track cyclist and you have one bike that needs to perform for that particular function, it just seems odd to specify.

fair enough hah i just enjoy the bikes i have and dont enjoy damaging them or putting them in jepordy of being stolen if at all possible. I have a "beater" (that term is relative I guess) that gets locked up outside my work in the city for 9 hours a day... I have several bikes I would never subject to that treatment ha nonetheless, very nice bike you have here. Paintjob reminds me of old Land Sharks.

I feel like his opinion is subjective to different people in different situations; obviously if you have no other need for a bike then you shouldn't label anything as a beater, but if you have an expensive bike for longer rides and need to get around daily, a beater would obviously be ideal

Haha, thanks. As soon as I decided on getting a Zephyr, I knew I had to track down a Salsa that wasn't completely thrashed and/or $150.

Pics are coming soon. I recently picked up some Easton EA70 flat bars, that'll pair really nicely with the Salsa stem once they're delivered.
