More Info:
weird story: a track racer had two mandaric custom frames built for him. After racing them for a time, he decided to sell both. i bid on this one on ebay, lost in the last seconds, and then in a second auction that ended 5 minutes later, i won the full pursuit version (see pics in my profile). a couple weeks later i was heading into work and i see this bike, the one from the auction i didn't win, parked across the street from where i worked. i went in to talk to the owner and tell him the story. of all the people in the world who could have won those two auctions, it was me and a guy who works across the street from me? so i sold the pursuit frame a while back, and figured i'd never see another of these. then, in a local online forum, i see this frame for sale. so i inquire and i buy back from the guy who outbid me, the other of the two frames. and the guy who sold it to me, by the way, was Aaron Dykstra, who just won Best New Frame Builder at NAHBS this year in Richmond, and the geometry of the bike he showed and won with at NAHBS was based on this very bike.

Hi, I am the person that Ves built those two frames for in 1995. The fork is built that way because Columbus had sent Ves some tubing to test for the frame and fork, but they hadn’t figured out a fork crown yet. So Ves improvised and capped the round sides of the fork crown by brazing two counts (US quarters) as caps. He is an amazing craftsman.

The pursuit frame and the track frame were my absolute favorite bikes of all time and I always regretted selling them - if you want to sell it back let me know!
