I'm about 5'6. I had a similar issue with size but I decided the 53 looked way better in terms of the frame. I had to go with a 70mm stem though which is a bit short but I like short stems for fixed gears(it clears my rack nicely as well). My inseam is 30 and the standover is not that bad with the 32mm tires I'm running.
