Sorry for late reply, 38s are awesome. I think eventually I'll try 35s but there's something magical about riding a sub 18lb steel bike on 38s. Definitely not room for 43s though. I have seen a lot of people do steamrollers in 650b though and then you can get some pretty damn chunky tires to clear.
