Archetype vs TB14?

Looking for new wheels for my GTB. Not sure which one to pick. Unsure of what hubs to get too.

DA 7600's to TB14's make a great wheelset!

personal thoughts.

Archetypes are ugly..if you actually build them.

definitely TB14

I have TB14 laced on DA7600. Looks beatiful, performs very well. I would definetly recommend TB14.

7710 x tb14.
LF with Boxcut wheels. = classy.

7710 also performs just as well as the 7600. more lowkey and lighter.

Thanks for the replies guys! I'll probably grab a set from velonine. Now... Black or silver? Hm...

And, if anyone could help with some suggestions for my bike (stem, bars, headset, etc) I'd be happy to hear some opinions. :)

How do they compare in terms of performance?

Which would you go for?

I can get TB14's for around $60 cheaper than Archetypes.

Stuck between the two, haha.

looking at the differences between the rims without ever having owned archetypes and having had two wheelsets with tb14s (and a third planned) they're essentially the same rim performance wise to the average cyclist, if you have to ask that question you won't notice any performance difference between them. if you're using them for serious competitive racing in good weather the archetypes are likely to be a bit better choice, they're slightly lighter (only 40 grams per pair - less than a tenth of a pound), more aerodynamic (not any notable amount), and stiffer (so you'll feel all the road right up your ass), but for any other type of riding you'll be happier with the tb14, as they're going to ride a bit more comfortably due to their increased flexibility, the double eyelets make for a more durable rim around the spoke holes and make truing the wheel easier, and the low section side profile makes crosswinds less of a hassle.

unless you're racing full dura ace groupset road bikes or full carbon look track beasts and crossing the finish by fractions of a second from the lead the archetypes appear inferior, and if you are racing in those situations there's much better rim choices anyway like full carbon tubulars. ;)

my advice: build up a set of 32h tb14s to your hub of choice.
