It depends on how flat the area you ride i guess...I live in athens/greece(a lot of hills),and i find 49x17 perfect.47x16 is good too(smaller front chainring-easier to accelerate and stop)I also tried 47x17,but it felt too spiny without going anywhere.

Why do you need an opinion on that ratio?
Just try it out and see if you like it or not.

"he just asking what YOURfavourite ratio is man.

'hey whats your favorite food'?

'yea go just go out and try it all and decide for your self.'

newjacks..."

No. He was asking about our opinions on that gear ratio. Our opinions should not matter on gear ratio if you're riding it and you're comfortable with it. Granted, I do not like the idea of people having 50+ teeth chain rings and 15, 16, 17, 18 cogs; just so they can have more chain life. I mean, some people actually ride track and use these gears specifically for track and not so they can ride down steep hills and skid for days.

So, yeah. Akuma, you should get your shit together.

My favorite ratio would have to be the one that slices akumas head off. Weren't you leaving? I was about to throw a party for your farewells. Cmon oldjack. This place is only for new jacks, go to tumblr or something.

Yes, this is a thread that is titled, "Favorite Ratio?"
That person was asking our opinion on a ratio some of us do not even use.
A persons opinion about one thing may not matter to the person who asked a question involving that persons opinion.

My opinion on my favorite ratio is that I really enjoy it, because I am not wearing my knees so much, I am able to spin and keep my cadence, I am able to get a good start when sprinting from a stop, and not many people ride the ratio that I am riding. I enjoy the ratio I am at right now and will explore others later.

Really? You really don't know shit about bikes, they're measured in mm. And if you want to know my Dick length ask your mom and sister. They can give you the size. Nice try though.
