Wheel Ideas

(closed)
Hey, just looking for pictures, and opinions. Indecisive on how I want my next wheel set to look like. But I'm leaning towards something like this.

Rims: Hplusson TB14 High Polished

Hubs: Phil Wood LF Black

Spokes/Nipples Wheelsmith Brass Black.

Anybody got a wheel build similar they can share on here? I think that'd look cool. Otherwise I'm going all black.

Thanks

You can look at the wheels on my AC364 and imagine the rims being silver. :)

Silver rims with all black everything else always ends up looking strange to me.

All-City New Sheriff SL or, Paul or Phil hubs laced to black or hard ano Archetypes. Black Sapim spokes and nipples.

Which bike would these be going on?

New wheels are for the Kagero. I also hope Retrogression can build my wheels with DT Swiss spokes preferably. I'm amazed it's not an option online.

Using DT Swiss is no problem at all.

We're currently working on our new site which will have an interactive custom wheel builder and include a lot more options.

+1 on hard ano if you stick with h+son. Arch's vs tb-14's is purely a personal choice as both are great, good luck with that. I prefer anodized rims with silver parts (like on my Samson) but I've seen them built up to black spokes/hubs and it looks solid.

+1 on LF Phil's, I just dig them all the way around.

Your Kagero is wayyyyyy to small based on your pictures, so I'd recommend building a wheelset that YOU think looks good on multiple bikes, not just on your Kagero.

Good luck and let us know what you decide

I may copy @Kartier wheel's. Those are nice looking!!

And yeah Phil's all the way with this next build. Not worried about the weight either, I'm gonna build a durable wheel set!

Do you know the material the DT Swiss spokes are made out of? Both the competition and Champion

Cold-forged stainless steel, like most good spokes.

Hubs: Suzue Pro Max high flange (high polished silver)
Rims: Archetypes polished
Spokes: DT Swiss (silver)
Nipples: DT Swiss brass
Tires: Panaracer gum walls
Cog: EAI Superstar - polished SS
Lock ring: DURA-ACE

Classic and bulletproof. I might have gotten away with 28 holes instead of 32s. (I'm 170lbs)

I honestly wanted this thread to have pictures in it, displaying wheel builds of what everyone is saying. Lol

@Tricksonafixed you could always go to prowheelbuilder and go to their custom wheel building program to see the options there are and see how much it may cost or how much it weighs.

I honestly plan on making that exact wheel set, because I like the low profile for regular street use and if anything breaks it'll be easy to replace.

Anyone run Velocity Aero 700c wheels? Planning out a wheelset and want something different than the standard deep V.

No problem, however I do not recommend that rim, I've seen a couple that crack around some spoke holes. It could be just cause the spokes where overtightened, but that has been my experience with them.

Yeah, my first choice was VO PBP, but I've read they have quality issues and are on the soft side.

I might just roll with the polished H+Son FF as I'm trying to stay away from silk screened logos in general on this build.

Specs:
Phil Wood LF - front
Phil Wood HF - rear

Whatever you do, hard anodized (or black) rims, silver spokes and nipples, and black hubs. Everything else looks bad.
