on offer is a super-cherry condition Merckx Corsa-OS frame and fork in iconic molteni colorway with plenty of chrome to class things up. this frame came to me in well-ridden condition so i had a ground-up restoration done by the magical hands of Allan Wanta a couple years back. i had wanta apply the classic merckx molteni from tip to tail with all graphics done at the time of painting -- buried under the clear-coat. while the frame was bare, i had wanta braze on some extras: added chainstay bridge to enhance the already stout BB and an oh-so-pro number-tab on the underside of the top-tube.

if you're not familiar with Thron, its pretty beefy stuff (DT = 31.7mm, TT = 28.6mm -- essentially an oversize version of SL). Thron chainstays are massive and at 29.9mm x 16mm are essentially identical to Max! suffice it to say this frame is stout and has a low BB height, so it rides like a proper cobbled-classic beast.

in this era, merckx frames have the cleaner fastback-style seat-cluster arrangement and tons of chrome on the fork and rear triangle. came from the factory with internal brake-cable routing in the top-tube -- this is the nice setup with the full internal brass tube, so you run a full length of housing -- no fishing around for inner wire. drive-side chainstay has super-tough 3M helicopter tape for chainslap protection.

geometry: 60.0cm x 58.3cm -- the geo chart puts the STA at 73.1deg and my saddle position on the rails agrees with this. so this is a standard non-century geometry merkcx. 130mm factory rear-spacing so it's ready for modern bits if you want to go that direction.

frame is very-very low miles since the restoration -- i have more than a dozen bikes in the fleet so no single bike gets much saddle time. in fact, in the time since acquiring this merckx i've moved to a smaller house and am in the ungodly painful process of downsizing my entire fleet of bikes, which is why i'm selling. please check out the pics and see for yourself. dont miss this chance to add a retro-modern steel merckx to your fleet! asking $875 + shipping for the frame and fork, paypal OK, tons of references on request.
