Pedal Room: What's your name, where do you live, and what do you do ?

My Name is Benny and i'm living in Munich for about 10 Years now. My job is, let's say IT Stuff :) (boring, technical shit). I'm also running the blog munichfixed.de.

Pedal Room: How long have you been riding, and how often do you ride?

Benny: I rode streetbikes and offroad til i was about 12 and then had a 10 years pause from "excessive" biking. 3 Years ago i started riding fixed gear. If i got the time i ride every day at least to work and some longer trips on the weekends.

Pedal Room: What's your favorite thing about riding?

Benny: It's the exact opposite of car driving (mentally). If i drive through the city and someone cuts my or something, i really get pissed. On the bike i really don't car as long as noone is trying to kill me. And of course, like in any other big city you are just way faster.

In general going fast on a bike is just a really cool thing.

Pedal Room: We love your Textima Low-Pro...how'd this bike end up in your hands?

Benny: As i am originally from the former GDR, i had a major interest in those bikes for quite some time. If you look at the details and the knowledge/skill that was put in those things, it's just awesome. These frames were in fact more than state of the art in their timeframe.

I bought the frame on eBay in a bad shape. The fork was missing. So i ordered a new 26" fork (24" originally) and got it powdercoated with the original Textima decals. They were never built like this, so it is no proper restore.

Pedal Room: How's it ride? And do you primarily ride this thing on the track?

Benny: As we have no good access to a track here in munich, i ride it in the city and for some short trips. In fact after 30 mins riding you neck hurts like hell, as you are so deep on the ground with your head. It is very obvious that this thing was built in the good old "no pain, no gain" times.

Pedal Room: What do you love/hate about your current bike setup?

Benny: For me it's nearly perfect. But it has one flaw. That is the seatpost. It's not the original modified, oval Campa post but a full material one which is let's say ugly like hell. Another downside is, that i can't ride it on a regular basis. Hope i can ride it on the track this year.

Pedal Room: Do you have any future plans as far as bikes go? New parts for your Textima, new bikes, etc.?

Benny: The textima is finished. I will sell my Krabo Track Bike (so contact me if anyone is interested) and go for some japanese stuff. For my company I'm building up a Cervelo T1 Hipster Machine at the moment :)

Pedal Room: Anything else you'd like to say?

Benny: Great site. You should unite with velo space as the navigation there is a pain in the ass ;)
