My first build up is a leader 725 seafoam green as well. I was wondering which you think handles better in chicago streets the heritage or 725 im on the fence on changing it

Smoother ride goes to the heritage, swifter agile ride goes to the 725. Either will do I chicago, its the potholes cabs that I worry about. Lol

This color looks so much better than the black(and I'm ok even though I'm a Bianchi nut).I'm trying to score a 725 this color.

Thanks Sloman!
& I agree it does look better than the matte black imo.
it allows a large range or options to play with, especially if you're as finikie as I am... as you remember, when I first built it up with the lime and purple(cyoteku...) you told me to take it out back and shoot that dog dead lol... guess what, I did.. and I'm glad cause I ended up with this build. I'm asuming you're Sloman from my "fixedgear"

I like your build a lot, and i don't really see a need for a change of colors on your parts. It looks pretty clean actually IMO.

referring to the comments below. i believed that changing to a pair of black tires + silver/gold chains will be much better.

anyway nice build and i totally agree with you that building up a bike is addictive. :)

thanks man, yeah it is, and can get expensive even if scounging around for good used or on sale parts. yeah everything is getting blacked out except the maybe dual black/red fizike micro tape (its got a thin red trim). I think I'll intime build up two sets of wheels, 1 set(curent wheels) with black hplus & black/red rubino pro III's & 2nd set on mavic rims with all black continental gatorskins (always read good reviews on bikenashbar on the mavic's on being nice touring/thrashing wheelset that can handle abuse and they are onsale all the time in the off seasons).

Thanks, I saw some cinelli topographic black bartape. Haha that was actually the first hipster comment I got. Lessons learned! But the one thing I'm not going to do is remove my Anita and rancid stickers... The huge 725# are ugly. They should have made the smaller or in different style.

Posted almost 13 years ago

Donskeyrae

Donskeyrae says:

actually I prefer huge 725's because of the straight top tube, and the seafoam green is pretty neat. Haha, is it anita or akira?

Posted over 12 years ago

Rdnt

Rdnt says:

Hah yeah its Akira.
I like the seafoam too, cause it leaves it open for options n its stands out a lil from all the black or white frames out there. Hope to get my parts in by the weekend so I can build it up.

I like your bike, nice!.
I noticed a lot of people here n velospace use the miche bb's with sugino 75's... Is it a function or cost/maintenance driven choice?

Posted over 12 years ago

Donskeyrae

Donskeyrae says:

Thanks! Actually, it's the opposite. I use sugino BB with Miche cranks, and it's due to costing. I got miche cranksets (minus bb) + fsa headsets at $100 here. Yeah, I'm currently waiting for my payday too, because I still don't have wheels on my bike. Hopefully it'll be soon enough.

Rdnt says:

oh ok, sweet.
yeah I hear ya on the cash situation.. I'm even considering selling on of my road bikes to build up a second set of wheels to switch out now n then cause i got the itch really bad. I dream of putting some Phil Wood's on a cinelli vigorelli (blue & white frame with either white or some really polished chrome rims with the blck'n'chrome philwood hub's) here I am getting way ahead of myself...

Posted over 12 years ago

Rdnt

Rdnt says:

Ha yeah thanks will get the shorter stem. And I just won some. Considering either black or chrome/polished hubs. I just didn't want to black out or black n white leader. Seen to many....

joeangelo

joeangelo says:

Cool build, probably gets hipster comments because it's like 5 different colors, haha... as for stem length, a shorter stem would be more comfortable with bullhorns. Besides, Leader's top tubes are way too long. I use a 70mm stem with my base bars/bullhorns

Rdnt says:

Sorry meant to hit the reply button instead of post comment. My omniums are going to be black but I guess with green frame I can afford to black out the rest. I guess add a chrome/silver half link chain and get rid of the green one... I'll keep the green tires n frame. IDK we'll see. One thing at a time cause this is addictive.. building up custom rides.
