Any plans for this build?

m_sobie says:

Currently, none. Everything's working sufficient as is. So until a part wears, I'll upgrade. Putting most of my efforts into my Nature Boy at the moment.

Well, maybe a Rotor crankset. If a stellar deal comes along, then I'd have to snatch it up.

Haha! I'm the same way, unless it's a really good deal, I wouldn't really bother. :P Finally got to race this frame today and it almost made me fall in love with it again!

How are the sidewalls of the wheels?did you use like a specific brake pads?

m_sobie says:

There is no escaping the paint eventually rubbing off when using rim brakes on black Archetypes. However, after one season of riding, my wheels still have a good amount remaining. It seems to have lasted longer than others' experiences, but I also live in flat Wisconsin where braking is very minimal. Used the stock 105 pads last year.

Those wheels really add a nice touch to the bike. The R3s just have so much potential to be built all kinds of different ways. Rode my buddies Di2 S3 and it was amazing, but to be honest, I will always have a soft spot for these bikes.

Thanks man! Would love to step up from the 105 group and crankset myself, but everything is working great for what I do, so I'll probably end up waiting until it's all worn out before I move on up. Looking forward to seeing yours grow!

Totally man! A lot of local pros are saying that the 105 group is good enough to race on and I second that statement. Upgrading the bike from what it is now, will be out of personal preference.

Beautiful bike. Just for curiosity, how tall are you and what's your inseam lenght? I'm looking for this bike, but I have doubts about the size (I'm 6'3'' and 37'' inseam).

m_sobie

m_sobie says:

I've got the exact same measurements as you. I based my decision on the reach and relative top tube. Normally I prefer a 58cm top tube, and the 58cm was closest to that. With my setup, I have about a 12.5cm saddle to handlebar drop. It's a aggressive position, but comfortable with my long arms. Sizing is different for everybody, even between those with a few similar measurements, so if I were you, I would go try both sizes out for yourself. The R3 is a great bike, you won't be disappointed!

Thanks a lot, I think I'll go with the 61 with a less agressive position and, maybe, a shorter stem.

Thanks dude! Castelli clothing is definitely a favorite of mine for cycling. Looks great and fits even better, something I tend to have a problem with being so tall. Definitely worth the cost.

Thanks! Not sure on the exact weight since I do not have a proper scale. According to a cheap bathroom scale, it weighs in around 17 pounds as pictured.
