Having grown up in the village of Dieren, home to the Gazelle factory, and having worked there during my summer holidays in my youth, it felt inevitable to eventually add a Gazelle to my bicycle collection. This immaculate Gazelle Superbe dates from the year 2000 and comes from its first owner. It is one of the last steel racing bicycles ever produced by Gazelle. The Superbe is a superbly riding bike: its strong and stiff frame has true racing pedigree - after all, it won the Tour of Flanders in 1999 - yet it also offers a high level of comfort for everyday rides. Although the Superbe was also produced using Columbus Foco tubing, I felt that, in keeping with Gazelle’s long Reynolds tradition, Reynolds 853 tubing better suited the heritage of the Champion Mondial.
