Beautiful build! I also have open pro laced with formula hubs from velomine. Super light compared to my old b43s

CaptainSlowdive says:

Thanks. I'm happy with the wheelset even with the formula hubs. Don't feel the need to change to D.A hubs.

Same. I thought about replacing those to gran compe or suzue, but I can just replace the bearing if it wears out. Phillwood bearing at that.

This really is a nice bike. Interesting that you like steel so much. Back in the '80s that was pretty much all we had! I like your saddle too. I believe that one is only @ 135g.

Posted over 10 years ago

CaptainSlowdive

CaptainSlowdive says:

Right now, i feel at home with steel. Funny that i tried almost any other frame material and returned to steel. Your right that the saddle is indeed 135gm!

LOL. Modesty is a virtue. My curiosity is more with the eai carbon frame. People remark about "Chinese" carbon yet durability wise those products stand up to the test. Look at the warrantees. Do you have knowledge about how to gauge the quality of CF products from China or elsewhere. I would love to know this stuff.

Posted over 10 years ago

CaptainSlowdive

CaptainSlowdive says:

The frame i had was not subjected to enough abuse and use for me to give a comprehensive review on the durability of the workmanship. Furthermore, we do not have a drome here to give it a proper beating. The bike was mainly used as a grocery getter and short commutes for running errands. Haha. It never saw its full potential.
