I got hit by a car in January 2015 and totaled my old Cross Check frame. It was a 58cm and too long, so I replaced it with a 56cm. From 2015-2020 it was mostly a commuter bike. From 2020-2025 it's mostly been for gravel. In late 2025, I revamped it for cyclocross to be as light as possible (lol).

Hey! Great bike! I was wondering how tall you are..You said that a 58 cross check was too long for you, do you feel alright on the 56 frame ? The saddle seems kinda high compared to the Surly bikes I've seen.

I do. I have long legs so I think the 56 and 58 both fit me in seat tube dimension; however the 58 is a good bit longer so I felt a lot more stretched out on that one. I probably could have gotten away with just using a shorter stem. All my other bikes I aim for a 57.5cm top tube.

How do you like the frame pump? I've been looking for a good one.

It's great. Very convenient and out of the way. Works faster and easier than a CO2 or small hand pump and was only $30.

clean build! Are you considering clipless at all in the future?

I'll switch back and forth between platforms and shimano XT pedals depending on the ride.

Thanks for your answer! But you didn't say how tall you are..? I know sizing depends on more things than just your height but it's just to have an idea.
