How do you like those chainrings?
Posted over 9 years ago
they've always been solid shifting from little to big. But I've had my chain suck going from big to little many times. they're pretty worn out at this point to. really hoping to get some new rings / chain / wheel set soon. my bike is terribly under-maintained right now
Posted over 9 years ago
Hmm okay. I am buying a quarq for max Fred and was curious what rings to go with them. They come with Praxis which are solid in shift quality but a little on the heavier side.
Posted over 9 years ago
yeah, id stick with the praxis. They're the enve of my eye currently.

Ahh yes, the white caad10's are faster than the red caad 10
Posted over 9 years ago
That weight makes it seem the caad 10 frame is lighter than most aluminum frames. Really considering picking up a used frameset to build up. Would you recommend it?
Posted over 10 years ago
oh yeah, its definitely lighter than most. pretty sure its still the lightest production alloy road frame. Maybe only matched by the canyon and the high end allez. it also rides better than many carbon bikes. all that with a tried and true race geo makes it an obvious choice for value.

2014 charcoal caad10 frameset on its way to me. You sir, have inspired me.

NICE! good luck with the build! your parts list seems pretty dope!

How do you like the Hollowgram cranks?
Posted over 10 years ago
they're nice, took a noticeable amount of weight off my bike. But they aint makin me any faster!
Posted over 10 years ago
yeah, i truly believe cannon dale cranks are the best you can buy. But are they necessary? no. As a racer, it doesn't matter which cranks you use, as long as they work. As a person who loves nice bikes, they're fucking awesome.

Diggin the setup. How's racing going?
Posted almost 11 years ago
Its going well, not too many races out here in hawaii, and cant afford to do too many when im out in California. Manage to convince USAC to give me a cat 3 upgrade, so hoping to do some collegiate A races this upcoming year. Howd the rest of your season go?
Posted almost 11 years ago
Nice! I also got my cat3 upgrade over summer. Might do a couple collegiate races this season as well. Hope to see you in a couple races next time you're in California!
Posted almost 11 years ago
Double nice! maybe see you there! hopefully can find the funds, target some more road races this time around.
Posted almost 11 years ago
Let me know in advance! I won't be doing road races though D:

You train and race on those wheels?
Posted about 11 years ago
yeah, for now, until i can afford carbon tubbies. but its a sleeper climbing wheelset. rims are super light.
Posted about 11 years ago
I have super hookup on some enve wheels, I'm just broke as fuck slash also planning a tt bike build. For now, these puppies work
Posted about 11 years ago
Isn't that what the pro's do?
Posted about 11 years ago
haha, you know I'm making jokes right? look up velominati. maybe youll get the humor after reading the rules.

Hi man.
Well, Looks like you set a Powertap.
It is so expensive thing.
So good Man.
Posted over 11 years ago
how is training with power so far? i've been considering trading my wheelset for some powertaps but not sure if it's worth it.
Posted over 11 years ago
If you really want to get the most out of your training, it is the best investment. Just be prepared to work, you gotta keep up with power testing and intervals to really get the most out of it; im still not using it to its full potential, but it is helping me.
Posted over 11 years ago
used powertaps can be pretty affordable. if you just buy a rear wheel it wont take too big of a bite out of your wallet, you just wont match. but getting an ant+ compatible is a must these days.

How do you like your new wheels compared to Eastons?
Posted over 11 years ago
Theyre really light (1500ish grams)! however, they are a bit less stiff/responsive. Also, they didnt stay true for very long, even after stressing the spokes. But they seem to be doing well now, and im not very heavy so i don't mind the extra flex as it doesnt effect me too much. Would consider velocity A23 if i were to do it over, but i got these at a great price so im not complaining.

That's one nice ride ya got there. The tubulars are nice but modern clinchers are almost there weight wise with out the problems.Vittoria makes some that are within a couple grams.Try going to a 19 width if you can find them. Less tire=less weight.Enjoy.
Posted almost 12 years ago
im definitely gonna consider that option whenever the time comes that i can actually afford something. thanks!
Posted almost 12 years ago
niiice, some tires like gp4000s for races?
Posted almost 12 years ago
gonna see if i can get some carbon tubulars for next season only did one race on it this past year. Its a sensitive balance here in hawaii. there is only one real road race, and the roads are covered in broken beer bottles, so its either risk a flat by running tires that arent so puncture resistant. or you can race on slow tires. i plan on racing on the mainland in the summer, well see what my budget will allow me to do.
