Black 2011 Cinelli Vigorelli

Was planning on buying this exact frameset when I found a complete bike locally for the same price via Craigslist. Granted, it was a hideous build, but I've fixed that aspect. This one is just about finished. Last thing I'd like to do is relace the rear wheel to use the factory Shamal bladed spokes.

Frame:
2011 58cm Cinelli Vigorelli

Fork/Headset:
Cinelli carbon and aluminum fork/Columbus headset

Crankset/Bottom Bracket:
Campagnolo Record Pista 165mm cranks/Campagnolo Veloce BB

Pedals:
NEW: Shimano Deore XT M780 clipless pedals OLD: Aluminum MKS pedals, cages, and black single straps

Drivetrain/Cog/Chainring/Chain:
EAI 17 tooth black cog/Campagnolo Record Pista 50 tooth chainring/nickel plated Izumi chain; other side of double fixed hub is a EAI black 19 tooth cog for windy days

Handlebars/Stem:
Deda 42cm compact drops/Thomson 100mm silver 10 degree X2 stem

Saddle/Seatpost:
Fizik Arione/Thomson silver Elite 31.6 seatpost

Brakes:
TRZ black and sliver brake levers with Campagnolo Delta front brake

Front Wheel/Hub/Tire:
Campagnolo Shamal 12 spoke HPW laced to Campy hub with Veloflex 25 tire

Rear Wheel/Hub/Tire:
Campy Shamal 16 spoke rim laced to custom drilled Phil Wood low-flange fixed/fixed hub with Veloflex 25 tire

Accessories:
Cinelli Volee' Bar tape with hand painted Cinelli '79 logo bar plugs

Personally think that this is the best vigor build on PR! Very classy..

About the road/mtb clipless, i prefer road pedals, gives you better power transfer (IMO) but if you use this bike on daily basis, i think mtb pedals suits you better because the shoes allow you to walk normally.. And some mtb cleat shoes like Chrome or DZR offered sneakers-styled shoe.. Just my 2 cents :)

TitoJones says:

I'm thinking of doing both. This is my daily commuter bike and I think some DZR/MTB shoe/pedal combo would work well for my errands. Then on weekends a set of road pedals and Sidi's would be a great way to ride longer distances. Thanks for the kudos on the build. I love this damn thing.

I do get paranoid when I lock it, bu it's too fun not to ride everywhere. Why build a bike that doesn't see hundreds of miles of pavement per month?

Wonderful Build... I would recommend trying a solid touring shoe and a road pedal that uses a MTB cleat like the Shimano A600 pedals. I have both. The Shimano RT82 shoes which are a hybrid type and they are awesome. More walkable than a Road shoe and more appropriate for a bike that sees pavement for 99% of the time.

Nice. I'm looking into getting both road and MTB pedals and swapping them out depending on my needs for the day. Can't wait to try this thing with clipless for the first time.

Nice wheelset! I'm jelly. The only thing I hate about vigs is that damn sloping top tube.

Posted about 12 years ago

TitoJones

TitoJones says:

I didn't even notice it was sloping for the first 3 months I had it. It's not much of an issue for me. I love these wheels; they really make the bike.

Posted about 12 years ago

Benson

Benson says:

Its not even sloped that much. The smaller sizes are sloped for sure. I have a 54cm and compared to my road bike with compact geo the Vig has no slope lol

SillyGooseCookie

SillyGooseCookie says:

how much was the Phil Wood lf hub? And did you buy new bladed spokes?

Posted over 12 years ago

TitoJones

TitoJones says:

The hub was near $320 and unfortunately the shop did not use bladed spokes or have the hub face machined properly to allow the use of them. It bugs me and I might send the hub back for re-machining to use the bladed spokes.

Posted over 12 years ago

SillyGooseCookie

SillyGooseCookie says:

do you mean hub slotting? You can run bladed spokes without a slotted hub, like the DT Aerolites aren't designed for a slotted hub but are bladed.

nice looking bike, I really want to see it with the rear Shamal and Campy cranks. Have you thought about changing the saddle? I doesn't look great IMO, but whatever works for you. I think a ti Flite or a Concor would look great on it.

TitoJones says:

Just snapped a quick few pics of the rear wheel. The campy cranks go on in the morning with a new chain (that blue and white setup was really getting to me) and I've often thought about changing the saddle and seat post to one that looks and feels better to ride on.
