Cucchietti (Olmo)

The march of acquiring mystery frames continues. All details bear out that the frame and fork were produced by Olmo, as the lugs, frame details, fork crown, etc, are all identical to an early 80's Professional - but notably missing the Olmo engravings other than the famous star on the fork tanges. Gian Paolo Cucchietti was a piedmontese ex-pro who started his own company and apparently contracted out the building of the frames to other workshops.

Great build! Big fan of those DT shifters. Are those Record bar end shifters converted to down tube? What kind of backing plates do you use?

Thanks! And yes, they're the 10sp era bar-end/TT shifters that are basically just Syncro 2 shifters with updated internals on the RD side. The FD shifter is identical to the 8sp set I have, from which I'm also using the backing plates. No weird jerry-rigging required! Pull-ratio between 10 and 11sp is the same, so works great with the 11sp Athena derailleur, too. Not quite happy with the aesthetics yet, but it'll get there.

Would look great with full campy! So are you keeping the red or blasting the whole frame?

Thanks man! Yeah, it's gonna be Campy regardless, just unsure whether Athena (with brifters) or a mixed Campy group with downtube shifters. Thinking of keeping the frame raw steel, but brushed and clear coated. This will allow for some patination.
