Very excited for this project. Taking inspiration from rat rods with heavily patinated paintwork. Will sand down rust, degrease the frame inside and out and apply wax. The details establish the frame as a "Supercorsa", most likely from the early 1980's.

Thanks man! I think so, too. Really great details with all the engraving and lug lining. The head painter at Somec, Mario Martini, has become infamous it seems in recent years, mostly thanks to the crazy coked-out designs from the 80's and early 90's, but he was managing the paint shop at Somec already at the founding in 1973. All higher-end frames like this were personally finished by him, so it's cool have the OG paint on here. The primer looks to be a dull ochre/brick color, so I'm hoping that any sanding for rust-reduction will have that cool effect you see on older "rat rod" car builds. I also like how the clear-coat has eroded/yellowed over the decades in places, exposing the dull ivory paint. Should fit nicely and have good tire clearance, so who knows, maybe this will be The One. And regardless, I've always wanted to own a Somec!
