I decided to try the "high in the sky" drop bar thing with a cheaper no-name adjustable stem from Amazon (before I drop $50 or $80 on a proper "dirt drop" stem). Seems to work OK. I'm still a little uncomfortable, but we'll see how things go. I love the braking and shifter setup, tho!

Nice work adding the metal GT badge! Why did you go for an engine block paint?

Thanks. I've found that the engine block paints are more durable than other types of paint (likely due to their high heat resistance). I also like most of the engine block colors (light blues, turquoise, etc.). My other mountain bike was also painted with an engine block paint: a dark pewter gray.
