Might be a little dangerous riding with that deep of a wheel with a chub hub don't you think? I've seen some semi-powerful people break spokes that way. But VERY nice bike. Finally a proper build. :]

BMF says:

thank you for your kind words sir. I share your same sentiments about the rear hub + dish, surprisingly I've put it through some major loads and it's been good to me.... for now :) here's a vid of me putting some power on it. https://vimeo.com/50916559

Awesome video. I may be mistaken in the whole hub to deep wheel thing. I think it may have only happened to chub to zipp 1080 where all the spokes broke. But non the less, very nice!

BMF says:

yes sir, one of the reasons I opted for the custom 32h carbon clincher, to watch out for those loads. Love that Felt of yours! Great experience meeting the 1st person on pedalroom, I've been lurking here for 2 yrs!

Thanks a lot man! Glad I could ensure that your experience on Pedal Room is good and not just full of trolls that hate on everyone bike's. And carbon is great in so many ways!

im interested to learn something new : so what is the advantage of the chub hub?

Posted over 11 years ago

BMF

BMF says:

To be honest I just personally like the look but theoretically the extra high hub flange combined with the 88mm dishes have shortened the spokes tremendously that makes the wheel overall stronger.

I used to ride the paul rear hub, that was pretty light and i believe the chub shaves a lil weight off, but nothing tremendously different, i've ridden the hell out of it so far treating me well... knock on wood!

Blokk says:

ok nice, sounds good, personally i like the look of an classic high flange more, but the strongness is an factor

You have 2 very nice builds on pedal room. Those deda bars work very well on both bikes:). I have just bought a chub hub and i want to lace it to my 88mm carbon clincher. Can you tell me what size of spoke you used?
