1960 Gillott Taper Tube Clubman

Beautiful taper tube lightweight racer from one of the finest English frame builders, A. S. Gillott, of Southampton Road, Camberwell, London. This frame was made by the famous Ron Cooper, who made many Olympic team frames used at the nearby Herne Hill outdoor Velodrome.

Frame:
Taper tube Gillott with very fancy hand filed Nervex lugs. The BB lug is not Nervex (as they did not make one for the 36mm taper tube end) but has been filed to match...

Fork/Headset:
Gillott Continental fork with period headset (any ideas)?

Crankset/Bottom Bracket:
Single 46 alloy chain wheel with steel three bolt Gnutti cotttered crank set

Pedals:
I think Leotard steel with toe clips

Drivetrain/Cog/Chainring/Chain:
46 tooth chain wheel with 5 speed Atom freewheel.

Derailleurs/Shifters:
Campagnolo Gran Sport rear derailleur and down-tube lever

Handlebars/Stem:
Italsport bars with Milremo stem.

Saddle/Seatpost:
Campagnolo Record two bolt seat post with Brooks Professional saddle (incredibly comfortable)!

Brakes:
Lovely period Balilla levers with superb wheel change click stop mech and Weinman centre-pull calipers

Front Wheel/Hub/Tire:
Early FB/Campagnolo hub with Fiammi alloy sprint tubular rim

Rear Wheel/Hub/Tire:
Early FB/Campagnolo double sided (freewheel and fixed) hub with Fiammi alloy sprint tubular rim

Accessories:
Britanialloy pump.
