More Info:
My frame was made in April 1979 when Trek was a wee little bike builder working out of an old red barn. These frames were sold as a set, or in various models depending upon component group. One of the variations had Shimano 600EX components. I built this one with Shimano 600EX (sort of funky) Arabesque components just because I always wanted at least one bike so equipped. I painted it in its original light blue color but didn’t like how plain it looked. Starting in 1981, Treks had a seat tube band in a contrasting color, and the 710 based bikes also matched the head tube to the color band. I used the same paint scheme but instead of a contrasting color went with a darker shade of blue. To accommodate my age, I used a Takagi triple crank (46-36-30) with 14-32 cogs. I also used a comfortable Velo Orange Rando bar and a Selle Anatomica saddle. It rolls on Ofmega hubs with Wolber Gentleman rims. Headset and bottom bracket are Velo Orange sealed. The cable routing is a bit funky as the brake calipers have their arms on the opposite side as usually found. I suppose this is good for those who prefer the rear brake on the left side, but I prefer a setup that conforms to the rest of my bikes.
