1997 Mini Max

Another in a line of one-off recumbents I built in the late 1990's.

Frame:
1.75 inch main frame with smaller secondary drive train supports.

Fork/Headset:
A 20" fork with a welded brake bridge of the 12" front tire.

Crankset/Bottom Bracket:
A recycled BB from a donor bike.

Pedals:
Folding pedals replaced the fixed ones used in the early build.

Drivetrain/Cog/Chainring/Chain:
A 52/ 42 170 mm cranket arm. I modified a freewheel by taking out the rachet pins allowing the gear to now act as a mid-drive assembly.

Derailleurs/Shifters:
Basic Shimano rear derailleur modified with a washer to allow it to mount on to bolt. A basic front derailleur off an old bike.

Handlebars/Stem:
A steering column designed to fold down into the bike frame. A bolt and nut lock it into place. A quick release allows the upper section to be removed from the steerer tube base.

Saddle/Seatpost:
A basic stock bike seat with a gel cover.

Brakes:
Side pull brakes.

Front Wheel/Hub/Tire:
The front wheel see in the picture has been replaced by a 12" plastic mag rim for greater strength.

Rear Wheel/Hub/Tire:
A 12" tire/ rim that uses a freewheel allowing me to set the rest of the drive train up.

Accessories:
Lights, a rear mounts frame bag, a hockey bag to carry the bike when taken apart for travel on other types of transportation like a bus or train.
