80's Diamant trackbike #3. (sold)

Belgian diamant track from the early 80's made by Eddy "Martelly" Martens a Belgian frame builder with a amazing history. Building frames is a profession in its own right and many bike brands ventured and therefore not to venture there. They buy their frames by others. For example, by Martelly. History of Martelly : Spoken by "Eddy Martens " My grandfather Arthur Martens was in fact the starter with framebuilding, he was also a very good rider in the period before the first world war with good results in the classics. His best result was fifth in tour of Flanders by 23-05-1913. He later changed his name Arthur Maertens in Arthur Martens. He has made frames for professional riders of team Poeders Man, for, among others, Daniel van Ryckeghem and Willy Vanneste. Also many riders of the Flandria team had their frames build by my father, but frames were not painted, these were then secretly issued by the riders tand given to the painters working at the Flandria factory in Zedelgem. To spray in the same colours as the team colours. In 1980 I took over the shop from my father and i created the name " Martelly " and also I decided just to concentrate on construction of race frames. We worked with the tubes of Reynolds, Columbus, Vitus and Ishiwata. We have build over 25000 frames in 20 years time period for various companies in Belgium and the Netherlands. I have made frames for Cornelo in the 70's and 80's, also for Empella and Wout Verhoeven and Jan Janssen. Also for Henk van der Kloof from Remy (with R-pantograph). With U-Pantograph in the forkcrown and bottom headtube lug ,this was for the Union-factory. I made frames the brands : Diamant, Dossche Sport, Concorde (Astore), Splendor, Chinetti, Devos Sport, Sportivo, Destoop Gent (Coppi frames before 1980), Flanders, U.Scanini. And for the teams Histor, Splendor, Safir, Empella cyclocrossteams met o.a Simunek, Flanders, Boston, Carlos, Gregoire.
